Overview

Mills County is located in Southwest Iowa. The county is bordered by the Missouri River and the Omaha, Nebraska metropolitan area on the west, Pottawattamie County to the north, Montgomery County to the east, and Fremont County  the south. The beautiful Loess Hills run through the western part of the county. Interstate 29 and Highway 34 intersect near Glenwood and Pacific Junction. Approximately 11,000 of the 15,021 population live within the western section of the county. The average daily temperature in Mills County is 19° in January and 76° in July, along with an average annual precipitation of 32 inches of rainfall and 18 inches of snowfall.
